College student spends between $800 and $1,200 on textbooks every year. Federal and state governments recognize textbook cost as an issue, but still have a long way to going in addressing the problem.
As faculty, you have the power to help address the issue by your selection of textbooks. Because of the limited number of resources available for open source textbooks it is an uphill battle, but by using and contributing to open source text you can help grow the existing libraries.
